I've done about seven or eight cabinet paint jobs through the years and the lesson that I've learned is to let the first color fully cure before applying any other over the top of it. I usually give it about two to three weeks. I'm in the process of painting a Gottlieb Spin A Card and the first time using Pinball Pimp stencils. In the past I've relied on tracing and making my own. I've got the base coat and webbing done and now ready for colors. Thank you for all of the helpful instructions.

You definitely don't want to submerge the connectors, as someone else said that introduces water between the conductor strands underneath the jacket where it can't evaporate. Especially if your detergent is acidic, the deposits it will leave behind will slowly corrode away your conductors. This process will be quicker for straight copper conductors, but will take several years for plated conductors.

You shouldn't be "teaching" how to do something, when you aren't proficient enough to do so. You don't paint a pinball cabinet with rattle cans, and you have absolutely ZERO clue on how to even do that. Awful video.

Beautiful video. I have a box of bad 6-digit displays to fix later and a few 7-digits that I need to fix right now for league night. It’s great that someone your age is interested in fixing these antiques. Your tutorial skills are top-notch.

How much does your pinball machine weigh? I had a similar idea, but I have to move a 1.6m x .9m x .6m downstairs. The equipment weighs about 125kg or 275#. My issue is that I have a turn at the bottom, so I was going to build a landing and a second ramp with a very slight slope. My concern is standing the equipment up on the landing, as I'm afraid it might fall forward. I'm not exactly sure where the center of gravity is and the equipment is about 5 feet tall. I was considering attaching the winch line to the top of the hand truck and then securing the bottom of the hand truck when I reach the landing and letting out the winch to allow the hand truck to stand up. Any bright ideas?

Great job my friend, this is how we all learn. Comparatively, it probably looks fantastic compared to the way it did before. Enjoy your game! I'm in the middle of a stencil project with these stencils as well on my Gottlieb El Dorado. Orange color is down and I'm waiting several days for it to cure before I add the final color. After speaking with Pinball Pimps owner, He highly recommended the standard Rustoleum spray paint with the plaid logo on the front and not to use the 2X products as they dry too fast. He also said the standard Rustoleum is a much tougher finish than the 2X. I've been using those and I couldn't be happier. After about 10 to 12 minutes I peeled the first stencil layer back and the lines were crisp and sharp. No goopy paint "snap back" and no tearing. The cure time is longer than the 2X, 1-3 days, but it's worth it. Thank you for this great post! Cheers!

Really appreciate what you said around 23:00. I had some micro-leaks when I did my C37, and although I definitely notice them, it’s a pretty small problem in the grand scheme of things. And it looks 1000% better than when I started.

Dear question, I have an EEPROM memory with a specific number that I could not find in the market. The memory size is 256 KB. Can it be replaced with another? It does not. have to be the same number, but of course the same size, or it must be the same number and the same size. The one is damaged is one time only read memory"TMS27PC256-20NL". The one i will used is UV EPROM"M87C257-20F1". With same size of course i will transfer data with programmer from TM to M8. Can do that because idont have TM eprom. I have M8 eprom.

Hey - Looks like you haven't uploaded anything in the last four years - wich I totally understand! I once had a huge collection that I downsized when my family became so much more important. I've owned hundreds of arcade machines and dozens of pins throughout my life. I've dealt with crazy stairs (a couple of my groomsen in can attest to the sketchy stairs at our second story appartment that overloooked a cliff in Rochester, MN), sheds, barns, and rentals. Your wife is a saint just as mine is to accept this crazy hobby. Though I've downsized to just three arcade machines and three pins, I'm still on the lookout for a gold version of FIRE! which is her favorite pin. Hope you and your family are doing well and that your love for pins is still there.

Nice video. I have been working on games since the 80's and have this programmer as well as several others. There is no support for the 2532 on this unit and that is a common game IC used on the earlier models. I have not tried using an adaptor to read the 2532 as a 2732 and reverse. Andromeda Research AR32 reads the 2532 with an adapter. I also have a 90's Python unit as well.

Quite some experience you have with programming of eprom chips. I am stuck as I am dealing with a chip that is obsolete. I had trouble finding spares but eventually got one and I am wondering which reader would your recommend for the M27C4001-10F reading and writing.

    • @Pinthetic

Depending on what your budget is the Andromeda 32 supports this Eprom as well as the Minipro TL866 model. I have used both with this Eprom. The disadvantage of the Andratech, (Still sold), is that it is DOS only. It will not run under windows. It will program 2532's with a simple adapter that you can build. The Minipro programmers run under Windows but does not support 2532's..@@MrMunshya

Thanks very much for the video, you are a true hero! This was my first time with stencils, and needed someone elses experience. Learning from your mistakes allowed me to get really good results with my Flash Gordon. I was really careful in chosing my paints, and did not over spay my yellow, this made everything pop. One piece of advice I would give, is do each side seperately. it takes a little longer, but allows for better control. (at least the first times)

Great job! You mentioned humidity which may have contributed to your minor paint issues. Some of these paints are just a nightmare to work with. Those car color paints you buy at auto part stores go on super dry, if you could find that brand in your color it would be a piece of cake for something like this. Comparing your before and after, you did an amazing job! Well done and thanks for teaching us noobs!
